Pool of competenceIn the Oslo-region you find more than 700 clean tech companies with a turnover of 100 billion NOK, employing 12 000 people. The industry has experienced an immense growth of 150 per cent in the last 8 years.
OREECs board represents the major businesses in the region such as Statkraft, Borregaard, Navita, Glava enøk and Akershus Energi, leading research institutions such as IFE and Tel Tek, leading universities like UMB, and financial institutions like Nordea.
OREEC also works in close cooperation with Innovation Norway.

Tradition for renewable energy
Although the Norwegian oil and natural gas industry has a strong international position and at present dominates the picture, Norway has a strong tradition within renewable energy.
A century ago, waterfalls were utilized for hydropower. Over the last few years, Norway has turned into a major supplier of solar cells for the world market. Research institutions in Norway are world class in the fields of for instance hydropower, solar energy and hydrogen as energy carrier.
The Norwegian government has in addition strong ambitions in the fields of offshore wind power and Carbon Capture and Storage.
